Back in Black on DVD/CD "Dualdisc"

This "Dualdisc" is currently only available in Boston and Seattle. It has two sides: CD side which has the remastered version that everyone knows and a DVD site which is in high quality never before heard DVD audio. I haven't heard it yet but reviews of the sound quality are astounding. If you're not from either of the areas that carry this "Dualdisc", you can find them on E-bay and range in price from about $30-$40 (US) or more. For the full list of features check out the scanned above.

Brian says album definitely due in 2004

AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson told Italy's Rock Hard magazine that the band will definitely come out with a new studio album in 2004 and that guitarist Angus Young has written "harder" riffs than the ones that appeared on their last studio CD, "Stiff Upper Lip". Johnson also said he will be handling lyrics this time around, which will mark the first time since 1988's "Blow Up Your Video" that Johnson will be penning lyrics for the band. He also said that a world tour will coincide with the release of the new album.

Taken from a Billboard.com article:
"AC/DC plans to have a new album finished 'by the end of the year,' guitarist Angus Young tells Billboard.com. 'I'd love to get it done and so would [guitarist/brother] Malcolm [Young]. And then once we do that, the whole [touring] ballgame goes on again.'"
The article also states that this will be the last album on the Electra record label.

VH1 Ultimate Albums: Back in Black

Tune in Wed. June 4 10/9c PM
It's one of the best selling albums in history and arguably the finest hard rock album ever made. AC/DC’s Back In Black is a sonic manifesto of survival, minted just months after the tragic death of original frontman Bon Scott. Shattered, AC/DC’s surviving foursome forged on with a new singer, but at first few were betting on Back In Black. Undaunted, the boys took refuge in a tropical paradise and promptly made rock ‘n’ roll history. Ultimate Albums brings you the incredible story behind the making of this classic disc.

Sydney Australia - Jan 20, 2003

Sydney's 'Sunday Sun-Herald' newspaper yesterday reported an unprecedented backflip by the U.S. Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

It was proudly announced by the Hall of Fame on November 7, 2002 that all current members of seminal blues-rock outfit 'AC/DC' plus foundation members Mark Evans (bass) and Bon Scott (vocals) would be inducted in March 2003. It was revealed today by 'Sunday Sun-Herald' journalist Peter Holmes that in an unprecedented move the Hall of Fame has now retracted the nomination of Mark Evans.

Despite his work featured on four classic albums released by the band ('TNT', 'Dirty Deeds', 'Let there be Rock' and 'High Voltage' US release) that have amassed an amazing 30 million sales worldwide, Mark was offered no explanation for this astonishing turn around.

Suzan Evans, Executive Director of the Hall of Fame, stated just prior to Xmas that Mark's inclusion, and the fact that this was widely publicized by the Hall of Fame since early November, was 'an error'. Many requests for clarification of this statement and an explanation of the extraordinary actions by the Hall of Fame have met with no success.

The extreme embarrassment and personal hurt that this has caused Mark is obvious. We urge any admirers of the band to implore industry and media contacts to lobby the Hall of Fame in an attempt to have this situation rectified.

Further, anyone in direct contact with the band should make them aware of this erroneous decision. They should be encouraged to bring pressure to bare on the board of the Hall of Fame so that Mark's nomination can be reinstated and he can take his rightful position alongside Bon & the current members.

New album update

Contrary to what had been announced previously the next studio album WILL NOT be released in March 2003. The band will meet in New York in March, for the first time since the end of the SUL tour, and talk about the new album. Then Angus, Malcolm & Brian will join London to rehearse the new songs. At this moment we can't say when the band will enter in studio and when the album will be released. In my opinion we will have to wait the end of the year to listen to new material. Brian was on the Mancow show last week from the Hard Rock in Orlando, and confirmed that the boys are meeting in London to pick the songs for the new album. Someone from Warner France told that the new album won't be released in France by Warner but by Sony, this information has been confirmed by someone at Sony France. I don't know the details of the deal and if it concerns Europe only. However that may be, Warner is selling the entire AC/DC catalog at half price in Europe (CDs between 5 and 8 euros).

Small Rumor on new album

From http://www.acdcpower.net:

AC/DC Movie

From AC/DC Power Website:
SYDNEY (Variety) - AC/DC will be celebrated in "Thunderstruck," a comedy about five fans of the celebrated Aussie rock band. The opening scenes are set in Western Australia, in the shadow of AC/DC's 1991 Razor's Edge world tour. After a near-death experience, five friends in a band vow to bury whoever dies first next to the Fremantle grave of their idol, ex-AC/DC front man Bon Scott. The story resumes in modern day after the death of one of the men. The producers nabbed rights to three AC/DC tracks: "Thunderstruck," "TNT" and "It's A Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock'n'Roll)." The film, budgeted at about US$3 million, begins shooting in March. Sony Music has committed equity in return for soundtrack rights; it will encourage cameos by its artists and has promised to produce and publish a single by the so far uncast band. Darren Ashton will direct from a script he co-wrote with Shaun Angus Hall. Reuters/Variety (Thanks Kurt & Rob)
